UK DAX digital audio ads (Global) loudness spec
What a file has to measure to pass this spec, and where each figure comes from.
| Check | Required | In LC-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated loudness | −15.0 ±1 LUFS | Fixed with a level change |
| True peak | −1.0 dBTP max | Limited, with audition |
| Loudness range | 10 LU max | Flagged |
Worth knowing
This is for ads booked through DAX, which play in streams and podcasts. UK broadcast radio (FM, DAB) commercials are delivered to a PPM peak level instead, which LC-1 does not measure yet. DAX asks for a true peak of −3 dBTP or lower, and a file fails above −1 dBTP. It also asks for no silence at the start and no silent stretch longer than 0.5 seconds; that is not checked here.
