YouTube loudness spec
What a file has to measure to pass this spec, and where each figure comes from.
| Check | Required | In LC-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated loudness | −14.0 ±0.5 LUFS | Fixed with a level change |
| True peak | −1.0 dBTP max | Limited, with audition |
Worth knowing
−14 LUFS is the level YouTube is observed to play at, and it only turns loud content down. −1 dBTP is common practice, not a YouTube figure. The source gives no tolerance: ±0.5 LU is LC-1’s own working window.
